Broadly defined, as self-clinching fastener is any device, usually threaded, when pressed into ductile metal displaces the host material around the mounting hole. This action causes the metal to cold flow into a specially designed annular recess in the shank or pilot of the fastener. A serrated clinching ring, knurl, ribs or hex head prevents the fastener from rotating in the host material once it has been properly installed. Thus self-clinching fasteners become an integral part of any bracket or assembly into which they are installed.

PEM® self-clinching fasteners continue to replace traditional methods of fastening. Many manufacturers have been using PEM® nuts and studs to replace weld nuts and weld studs, but now electronic manufacturers can further realize the advantages to using self-clinching fasteners through the use of CONNECT'R WARE®.

PEM® has expanded its line of products for connectors. The CONNECT'R WARE® products enable electronic manufacturers to lower assembly costs and increase product reliability.
